Scholarship Program

The Illini Club of Portland has revived our scholarship program to financially support an outstanding high school student from the state of Oregon who is attending the University of Illinois. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and leadership potential to a student who:

  1. Has been accepted for admission to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for the Fall of 2016;
  2. Has a permanent home address within the state of Oregon or southwest Washington;
  3. Has enrolled for full-time undergraduate study at the University of Illinois at the time the award is paid (Fall of 2016 and Spring semester 2017).

Thank you for your generosity and continued support of the Illini Club of Portland Scholarship Program.  Your gift will go a long way toward helping Oregon students earn a quality education.

The Illini Club of Portland is pleased to announce Kevin Kim as the recipient of our 2015-2016 scholarship. Kevin is a sophomore from Gresham who graduated first in his class from Sam Barlow High School. He is studying computer science and hopes to carry on Illinois' alumni tradition of technology innovation.

  Our scholarship winner for 2016-2017 is Connie Fan of Portland who graduated from Westview High School in 2014. Connie is studying Computer Science within the College of Engineering while also participating in the Innovation, Leadership, and Engineering Entrprenership program.

How to apply

Each spring, the UIUC Admissions Department provides us with a list of all Oregon students who have been accepted to the university. Upon receipt we e-mail an invitation to each student on that list to complete the club's scholarship application. The application also can be accessed here. Any question about the application process can be sent to info@portlandillini.org.
